Phil Liew
Founder + CEO
Phil brings experience in both software engineering and capital markets. He began his career in software consulting, building enterprise systems for clients, before moving into capital markets, where he spent more than 12 years in front-office trading and research. At BMO, he held a leadership role on the derivatives trading desk and helped establish some of the bank’s first machine-learning teams, applying models to pricing, risk and trading decisions well before the rise of large language models.
Phil co-founded Tactable to bring greater engineering discipline to the challenges he had seen banks face from within. He has since led the firm’s growth into an engineering company with more than 100 people serving major financial institutions across North America. Phil sets the company’s direction while remaining closely involved in client relationships, which he sees as essential to building strong partnerships.
